About the Role:
SLS, part of ADE Consulting Group, is seeking an Experienced Inorganic Chemist to join our Melbourne NATA-accredited Chemical Testing Laboratory. You will perform analysis on soil, water, and air samples in a fast-paced environment within our Metals Testing Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of inorganic compounds in water, soil.
- Operate and maintain advanced laboratory instruments including Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Mass Spectrometry (ICP -MS), Segmented flow analysis (SFA) and ION Chromatographs (IC).
- Ensure instruments are calibrated and functioning within acceptable ranges to guarantee data accuracy.
- Develop, validate, and optimise methods for the detection and quantification of heavy metals and other inorganic contaminated in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems including ISO 17025.
- Implement and monitor internal QA/QC protocols such as blanks, duplicates, spikes and standard reference materials.
- Prepare environmental samples through digestion, filtration, dilution, and other necessary pre-treatment steps before analysis.
- Prepare technical reports, data summaries, and contributed to environmental monitoring and compliance documentation
- Lead and mentor a team of staff to carry out duties in inorganic analysis and preparation, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results.
