SLS is seeking an Experienced Inorganic Chemist to join our Environmental Chemistry Testing Laboratory in Melbourne. This role involves the analysis of soil, water, and air samples in a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory environment.

We are looking for a technically skilled and detail-oriented individual to work within our Anion Testing Section. Candidates with a minimum of 2 years' relevant laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Preparation of environmental soil and water samples
• Operation of Segmented Flow Analyser, Ion Chromatography (IC), and other analytical equipment
• Generation of accurate test results within required turnaround times
• Calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Monitoring and maintaining consumables inventory
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
• Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and safety

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in science, majoring in Chemistry or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working within NATA-accredited laboratory quality systems
• At least 2 years' experience using environmental laboratory instrumentation, including:
• UV-Vis Spectrophotometry
• Segmented Flow Analyser
• Ion Chromatography
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
• Strong record-keeping and data interpretation skills
• Full working rights in Australia
